Industrial water Purification system largely depends on the quality of water needed to achieve your process. Depending on the quality of the raw water, different industrial water filtration system can be used to remove impurities, solids and chemicals. Different industries require different quality of water. Food and beverage would require a high level of water purity because of human consumption, whereas the clothing or other goods industries might not require the same level of purity. Basic filtration process taking place in all the industries is the removal of impurities from the initial raw water. They are then put in production line to supply the correct quality of water. When water passes through the system, membranes capture and remove impurities.
Normally, the industrial water purification process takes place in 4 steps.
(i). Screening – The raw water is made to pass through a screen when it enters into the industrial filtration systems. Here all the large size materials and impurities are removed from the water which can clog or disrupt the purification process.
(ii). Coagulation/Flocculation – In second step the chemical is been added to the water to be treated which leads to the formation of small, sticky particles called floc. The floc is assigned the job of attracting larger and larger particles and leading them to either the bottom of floc tank for conveyor removal or rise to the top to be skimmed off.
(iii). Filtration – The water in filtration process is made pump through one of many filters, leaving the accumulated floc behind in the filtration media.
(iv). Disinfection – Now, the filtered water is led to a closed tank where disinfectant chemicals like chlorine are been added. These chemicals will kill any bacteria or any other micro-organisms which might have survived through the filtration process.
Initially the Raw water treatment is been done which acts as a pre-treatment and optimization of source water for the removal of impure larger particles which can create an obstacle in the further filtration procedures. It is mainly focused on protecting downstream equipment from scaling, fouling, corrosion, and other forms of damage or premature wear due to contaminants present in the source water. The water is then treated by the Boiler Feed Water Treatment Systems which are mainly used to protect the boiler components and piping from damage which can be caused by the contaminants present in the boiler or makeup feeds. Some of the typical steps followed in the Boiler Feed Water Treatment are makeup water intake, filtration, softening, dealkalization, Reverse Osmosis, Primary ion exchange, degasification, polishing and distribution.
An effective cooling tower water treatment system works by removing harmful impurities in line with the manufacturer recommendations for the water quality requirements depending on the type of cooling tower used. The water treatment here varies depending on the requirements of the cooling tower equipment and the chemistry of feed, makeup and blow-down water. The typical steps followed in the cooling tower water treatment system are makeup water intake, filtration, softening, chemical addition, side stream filtration and post-treatment.
The whole concept behind waste water treatment is to convert the spent streams into an effluent which can either be reused or disposed safely to the environment without causing harm to anyone or discharging it to municipal treatment facility. It is necessary to carry out the waste water treatment in an appropriate way in order to avoid any kind of harm to the environment, human health, and facility’s equipment, process and products. The waste water treatment train varies from one installation to the next depending on the discharge regulations, stream constituents, flow reuse strategies and other such factors. However some of the most common methods used to treat waste water are clarification, disinfection, softening, distribution etc.
